AUDIO GUIDE DESCRIPTION |
Description: Located only few hundred meters west to St. Peter's square is St. Angels Castle. Originally it was the tomb of Hadrian and was erected between 130 and 139 A.D. as a mausoleum for himself and his family. It was finished almost one year after the death of emperor Hadrian. In order to have an easy access to the building from the area of Campo Marzio a bridge was built crossing the Tiber river, which was inaugurated in 134 A.D. |
