The Arch of Septimius Severus is one of the two remaining triumphal arches of the Roman Forum. It spans the Via Sacra on the route of the triumphal processions just before the ascent of the Capitoline Hill towards the Temple of Jupiter. The triumphal arch was built in 203 A.D. to commemorate the two victories of emperor Septimius Severus and his sons Caracalla and Geta in the former Parthia (now mostly Iran territory).

The Arco di Tito (Arch of Titus) is situated at the highest point of the holy Street, the Via Sacra and was erected by Domitian, just after the death of his brother Titus in AD 81. The arch commemorates the sack of Jerusalem in 70 AD after the great Jewish revolt.

Located between Venice square and the capitoline hill, the so called Vittoriano or Altare della Patria, is one of Rome's most controversial monument. Built as a tribute to the first King of a united Italy Victor Emmanuel II, the monument is made of white Brescian marble.

Located in the porch of the lovely medieval church of Saint Mary in Cosmedin since 1632, the mouth of the truth (Bocca della Verità in Italian) attracts thousands of visitors every year. Its name and popularity derive from an old medieval legend stating that if a liar had placed his hand in its mouth, it would have been bitten off. It became even more popular when a very charming but mostly brave Gregory Peck tested the Mouth in front of a really scared Audrey Hepburn in a classic Wyler's movie: Roman Holiday.
